“Doing what is right, fair, and honorable is more important than winning or losing”
-Chick Moorman
Many people often believe that winning is everything. But that is a false misconception, as winning is not in fact everything. It is much more important in choosing the right than to win. If you win by cheating there will be no honor for you. No one is going to look up to you or like you, but instead people will being to despise you and hate you for the actions you did. Now, if you win something by working hard and striving for your best, well there is honor in that and so people will begin to respect you. Same thing with being fair, you will gain respect from other and those around you. Winning may bring happiness to you, but if you yourself know that you cheated, then you will begin to feel guilt within yourself. There is no way that you can cheat and lie and still feel good about it afterwards. If you are taken part in an event and you work hard but still lose, you will feel satisfy with yourself as you yourself know that you work hard and try your best to get to where you are.
Example: An example of this can be seen during the presidential elections. Many people believed Hillary rigged the primaries in order to beat Bernie Sanders, and people who spoke out against her would mysteriously die or disappear. Many people view this has a form of cheating, so as the quote suggested many people did not respect nor honor her.
